I love this company and their Propylene Glycol (that's all I ever order from them, must have been about a dozen orders so far) and never had a problem with Glycerine Supplier out of every order, which is a track record I have better than with Amazon... (Plus it costs more than twice as much on Amazon, plus Amazon's shipping).. Much better to go straight to the source. I love this brand. Always kind and never had a single problem with them.

Anyone looking for Propylene Glycol (or any of their other products, I'm sure), should get them from Glycerine Supplier. Awesome company, not a single complaint. Oh yeah, quick and friendly communication as well!! Will definitely be back!

Online vendors sell PG in various weight/volume amounts. Unfortunately, some of them mislead consumers by advertising the amounts inaccurately (not taking into account the product's density). This makes comparison shopping difficult. We created this chart to assist customers in finding the best possible deals. The conversion table above is based on our PG's density of 1.0362 g/cm3 (8.647 lbs/gal). Glycerin Supplier prides itself on offering the lowest price on propylene glycol anywhere. Compare and see for yourself.

If you are purchasing drums the LTL Freight quote is a retail shipping quote. If you CALL US 99.9% of the time we can get you a considerably lower rate.

The chemical, food, and pharmaceutical industries use propylene glycol as an antifreeze. As an antifreeze, it prevents leakage that might result in contact with food. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has designated propylene glycol as an additive that is "generally recognized as safe" for use in food.

Propylene glycol is a colorless and viscous liquid that is almost completely odorless. It also has a slightly sweet taste. It is designated as a diol, meaning it contains two alcohol groups. It is homogenous, combining perfectly with a broad range of solvents, including water and acetone.

What is Propylene Glycol

Propylene glycol is a synthetic liquid. It absorbs water making it perfect for a wide range of uses across several industries. It is used to make compounds such as polyester. It is also used as a foundational chemical used in deicing solutions.

It is typically used as a solvent for food colors and sometimes for flavors. It is also used throughout the paint and plastics industries. Its properties make it a go-to ‘release’ throughout hundreds of products and industrial solutions, such as the creation of artificial smoke and fog that is commonly used in fire-fighting training and theatrical productions.

Propylene glycol is a clear, colorless, and somewhat syrupy liquid when it is kept at room temperature. It can become airborne when it is in vapor form. To achieve this, however, propylene glycol has to be heated or shaken very quickly and harshly in order to produce vapor.

Propylene Glycol for Skin

Propylene glycol is used in hundreds of skincare products ranging from anti-wrinkle creams and mascara to baby lotions and haircare products. Why is it so common? That’s because it’s a humectant, meaning it is perfect to be used as an ingredient that is commonly found in cosmetics in order to increase the moisture retention when it is used on skin and hair.

Propylene glycol is found in thousands of skincare and personal hygiene products. Therefore, you are most likely using a product with it as an ingredient without even knowing it.

If you think you might benefit from the moisturizing, smoothing benefits of this additive, here are a few products to consider:

For dry, irritated skin, especially on the hands and feet, try SkinCeuticals Hydra Balm. This rich balm is designed to help lock in moisture and soothe flaking skin.

For visible signs of aging on your face, try Visha Skincare Advanced Correcting Serum. This 5-in-1 serum aims to help minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, fade sunspots, and correct uneven skin tone from ultraviolet damage.

For dull hair, try PHYTO Phytodetox Clarifying Detox Shampoo. This softening shampoo helps remove residue to promote fresher, shinier hair.

Is Propylene Glycol Safe?

Propylene glycol is safe. It is safe for skin care and it is safe on human skin. While some misleading content may make inaccurate statements, in relation to the ingredient, including wording such as “toxic” or “carcinogenic,” these statements are factually inaccurate. The reason behind this verbiage is due to the fact that it is typically derived from petroleum.

However, since cosmetic-grade petroleum isn’t the same as commercial petroleum, there is no reason for concern. Propylene glycol is chemically inactive, so there is no reason to worry about it in beauty and skin care products.

What are the Uses for Propylene Glycol?

Propylene glycol uses are many. The chemical, food, and pharmaceutical industries commonly use it as an additive. It is used in the industrial complex in products such as:

  • Coolants
  • Antifreeze
  • Plasticizers
  • Heat transfer and hydraulic fluids
  • Smoke screens and simulators

In What Other Products is Propylene Glycol Found?

Propylene glycol (PG) is used in products such as:

  • Liquid foundation
  • Spray deodorants
  • Moisturizers
  • Lipsticks
  • Suntan lotions
  • Shampoos and conditioners
  • Baby wipes
  • And more

It is also found in products such as antifreeze, brake and hydraulic fluid, floor wax, paints, and so much more.

Who Uses Propylene Glycol?

It is considered to be one of the fastest-growing commodities in the world. Forecasters have it projected to grow from $3.8 billion in 2019 to $4.7 billion in global revenue/sales by 2024. In fact, it is expected to be the primary driving factor for the automotive market over the course of the next few years.

  • Industrial
  • Pharmaceutical
  • Transportation
  • Building & construction
  • Food & beverage
  • Cosmetics & personal care

Propylene glycol is used in thousands of products in hundreds of industries. It is safe for use in the food, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical industries at virtually every level of production. Buy in bulk and at wholesale prices to ensure the best value available online.
